Calls on council’s performance

Phone calls will occur across the region in the coming weeks to ask ratepayers about Surf Coast Shire Council’s performance.

Australian-based call centre National Field Services will interview 600 resident and non-resident ratepayers as part of the 2025 Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey.

Calls to landlines and mobiles will begin on January 31, with calls likely to continue being made for a month, and survey results expected to be shared with the community in the middle of the year.

Deputy mayor Libby Stapleton said the survey would provide insight into the community’s views on council’s overall performance.

“If you receive a call, we encourage you to take the time to participate in the interview and give your honest opinions,” she said.

“This is a good chance for the community to provide feedback on how council is going, including what’s working well and what can be improved.”

The annual survey is organised by the state government, with local governments able to participate, and results are collated and analysed by independent researcher JWS Research.

Themes will include council’s overall direction, customer service, decisions made in the community’s interest, community consultation and engagement, and local infrastructure, facilities and services.

Researchers will ask for basic demographic information like age, gender and location but will never ask for personal details like name, address or income.
