Fete fun to return

One of Geelong’s largest school fetes returns next week, bringing a spectacular day packed with carnival rides, entertainment and family fun to Clairvaux Catholic School in Belmont.

Clairvaux Carnivale will fill the school grounds with activities and attractions from 10am to 3pm on Saturday November 16.

The biennial event is the school’s major fundraiser and is this year raising funds for school playground upgrades.

The massive day will include rides, sideshow games, animal farm, hot food stalls, high tea, gift stalls, face painting, live music, entertainment on stage and much more.

Surrounding activities will include the animal farm, a team sports zone, face painting, giant bubbles station, sumo wrestling suits, CFA vehicles display and a play area for preschoolers.

On the outdoor stage, Dazzling Dan the Magic Man will wow crowds with magic and illusions, while Cheer Geelong will bring a high-energy performance of dance, tumbling and acrobatics. Belmont High School bands and the Clairvaux Choir will also perform on stage and live piano music will set the scene at the delightful high tea.

A major highlight will be the silent auction showcasing more than $20,000 worth of donations from businesses across the community. Attendees can bid on an impressive range of more than 150 items and vouchers, including a Geelong Cats signed guernsey, a football signed by Gary Ablett Senior, hire of a Mustang and holiday accommodation.

Food lovers are in for a treat, with Carnivale’s largest-ever menu offering delicious options from sizzling barbecue favourites and pulled pork rolls to classic treats including fairy floss and popcorn.

Early bird all-day ride passes are on sale for $30, giving access to the five rides and to the animal farm.

“The Clairvaux Carnivale is the biggest event on our school calendar, and attracts families from across Geelong as it’s a fantastic day of fun for all ages,” coordinator Jane Clark said.

“It’s a real celebration of our school community spirit, with months of planning and hundreds of volunteers coming together to make the day a success and raise funds for our school.”
