Torquay into another grand final

Torquay produced a blistering eight-goal second term to defeat Drysdale in the Bellarine Football League preliminary final and earned a grand final spot against Anglesea this Saturday.

In horrible, windy conditions at Leopold Memorial Reserve, the Tigers slammed on 8.4 in a stunning second term to open up a half-time lead of 31 points.

But the Hawks fought back get within a goal at the last change.

A concerted effort by Torquay late in the third quarter stopped Drysdale from scoring while keeping the ball at its attacking for the majority of the final 10 minutes.

This went a long way to securing the win as the Tigers booted 3.9 to one behind in the last to get home by 32 points.

Gun midfielder Matt Boag was unstoppable for Torquay with two goals and some superb clearance work.

This Saturday’s grand final promises to be a beauty at Leopold starting at 2pm.

In the reserves, Geelong Amateur ended Queenscliff’s finals run with a 60-point triumph.

Patrick Ryan was the star up forward with four goals.

Ammos will meet the unbeaten Torquay in the decider starting at 11.30am.
