Lest we forget

Hundreds lined both sides of The Terrace before marching to Ocean Grove Park for a solemn and heartfelt Anzac Day service this morning.

Community groups and members paid their respects to our fallen Diggers in many ways all over the Bellarine Peninsula.

A dawn service in Ocean Grove was followed by a mid-morning march and service while Barwon Heads, Queenscliff, Portarlington, St Leonards and Drysdale RSLs all had services.

The Ocean Grove mid-morning service attracted a huge crowd with community groups, sporting clubs, schools and politicians laying wreaths at the cenotaph.

WWII veteran Roy Porter, 99, represented Ocean Grove Men’s Shed in laying a wreath while Senator Sarah Henderson, Member for Corangamite Libby Coker and Bellarine ward councillor Elise Wilkinson were in attendance.

Lieutenant Matthew Portelli was guest speaker.
