Much-loved local entertainers Dazzling Dan the Magic Man and Nicholas Ridiculous’ Bebop Circus are just two of the acts launching on show at Kids Funfest in Leopold this week.
Kids Funfest, part of Children’s Week 2023, will be held at Leopold Memorial Park on Monday, October 23 between 9.30am and noon.
The free event will feature six acts and 15 activation stations hosted by organisations such as AFL Barwon, Geelong Regional Library, Leopold Primary School, the National Wool Museum and Wathaurong Aboriginal Coop.
While there will be a Barwon Water hydration station and coffee van on site, organisers encouraged people to bring a picnic to share with family and friends.
Inclusion and Care portfolio chair, Councillor Sarah Hathway highlighted the wide range of events on offer.
“Children of different ages look for different activities to engage and entertain them,” Cr Hathway said.
“I encourage all parents to take the time to look through the entire program and find the appropriate events for their children.”
Greater Geelong Mayor Trent Sullivan said the City was “delighted” to support Children’s Week.
“I believe that the broad selection of City-supported events dovetails nicely with the wider theme for this year that ‘Children have the right to relax, play and take part in activities they enjoy,” Mayor Sullivan said.
“Council recognises the need to support a community that gives children the opportunity to celebrate their early years, and there’s certainly plenty of opportunities for our young ones and their families to play, learn and grow together.”
