Rosemary Hodge OAM

Surf Coast Shire Council’s Rosemary (Rose) Hodge has received the King’s Birthday Honours OAM award for serving local government and the community.

The Jan Juc woman has been involved with the council since 2004 and has served as Mayor four times in 2006 to 2007, 2013 to 2014, 2015 to 2016, and 2018 to 2020.

She has also been a member of the All Abilities Advice Committee, Torquay Community Impact Advisory Committee and as a Municipal Association of Victoria representative.

Outside her work in the Surf Coast Shire Council, Rose has been a member of the Victorian Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel for three years, the Australian Local Government Women’s Association, and a G21 Geelong Region Alliance board member for five years.

Rose has also previously received the Paul Harris Fellow recognition from Rotary International and the Alan J Holding Lions Club Community Service Award on top of her recent OAM.

Her other roles included:

*Torquay Community Enterprise board member from 2013 to 2023.

*Gateways Disability Services Geelong board member from 2008 to 2020.

*Barwon Valley Special School former committee member.

*Jan Juc Kindergarten former president.

*Peri-Urban Group former member.

*Torquay Community House former committee member.

*Torquay Netball Club life member, former committee member and 1994 president.

*Torquay Cricket Club former committee member.
