The Bellarine Highway is closed in both directions for a stretch between Curlewis Road, Wallington and Chrisites Road, Leopold due to a serious collision.
Motorists are asked to follow the direction of traffic mangement and to avoid the highway, using Portarlington Road through Leopold and Curlewis instead.
Those travelling between Geelong and Ocean Grove may consider travelling via Barwon Heads Road through Charlemont and Barwon Heads to avoid delays caused by detouring traffic.
Route 56 buses in both directions are detouring around the closure and will miss stops.
This incident and road closure is under the control of Victoria Police. The highway lanes will only re-open when investigations are complete and it’s safe to do so.
