Organisers of the Champion Blinds Torquay Lions Billy Ryan Charity Bowls Day are confident that the event will be a success.

Champion Blinds, a regular contributor to the Charity Bowls Day, and Surfside Dental Torquay, a new sponsor, donated large amounts to the event supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal (GFA) this year.

Torquay Lion Peter McMahon, regional organiser of the GFA in the local region, said the charity day had received great support from local traders and businesses with numerous donations of prizes and cash.

“Funds raised at the coming charity day on Friday 31 March are dedicated to Torquay’s 2023 Good Friday Appeal, which, when added to other funds raised

through tin rattling and street collections, could see in excess of $30,000 going to the Children’s Hospital,” he said.

“Around 120 bowlers are expected to play, and, from past events, we know how generous they are in helping us raise funds.

“Torquay residents and visitors have always generously supported the Good Friday Appeal which generated more than $13,000 last year.

“We will do much better this year for the hospital, as many local organisations are working to help the Lions Club raise a record amount to be forwarded to the appeal.”
