Labor promises Wallington upgrade

Candidate for Bellarine Alison Marchant has promised a $2.1 million upgrade to Wallington Primary School if Labor retains power in the state election.

The main school building will be upgraded under the plan and relocatable buildings will be upgraded and replaced.

Labor said it has already invested more than $580,000 into the Bellarine Peninsula primary school.

“Every family deserves a great local school, and a re-elected Andrews Labor government will invest $2.1 million to upgrade Wallington Primary’s main school building and replace and upgrade

relocatable buildings – so local kids have the world-class facilities they deserve,” Ms Marchant said.

The Labor Party committed to build 100 new schools by 2026 with 75 already funded or Opened. It has delivered more than 1850 upgrades to schools since coming to government.

“Our teachers do an amazing job educating Victorian students and that’s why we’ve delivered so many new and upgraded classrooms and facilities at schools right across the state,” Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins said.

Labor said it has invested more in student mental health and wellbeing than any other jurisdiction in Australia, putting mental health workers into every government school.

Labor has reformed the senior secondary school system, combining VCE and VCAL to create a single pathway.
