A teenage boy has been acquitted of murder over a fatal stabbing during a fight at Corio Village shopping centre.
Mohammad Mohammadi died in hospital after being stabbed in the chest just days before his 18th birthday, in August 2020.
He was with a group of friends when he met up with another group at the shopping centre, where punches were thrown before he was attacked.
Mohammad had emergency surgery but was declared brain dead and his life support was turned off one day after he turned 18.
A 17-year-old boy faced a Supreme Court trial, which lasted more than a month, where he was accused of murder.
But a jury on Thursday returned not guilty verdicts for both murder and an alternate charge of manslaughter.
Two other men, Alith Wal, 20 and Nyal Mainyal, 21, admitted stabbing Mohammad in the arm and leg.
The pair pleaded guilty to intentionally causing serious injuries, affray and committing offences whil e on bail, during a hearing in March this year.
Wal and Mainyal will be sentenced at a later date.
