A house in Buckley, just east of Winchelsea, has been completely destroyed in a fire on Wednesday afternoon.
CFA received multiple calls regarding the fire near the intersection of Lake Dubbin Road and the Princes Highway in Buckley at 3pm on Wednesday, April 20.
Firefighters found the house well alight with the roof starting to collapse when they arrived.
CFA assistant chief fire officer Wayne Almer said to help extinguish the fire, firefighters obtained water from the tanks of neighbouring properties.
“Fortunately, there were no people inside the residence at the time of the fire but sadly some puppies inside the home were found deceased,” he said.
“Firefighters did a great job given the intensity of the fire and the challenges structurally.”
The fire was brought under control at 4pm and declared safe just before 7.30pm, but the house was completely destroyed.
There were 10 CFA vehicles on scene, supported by FRV crews.
The fire is being investigated today however it’s not believed to be suspicious at this stage,
A Surf Coast Shire building surveyor will also attend.
