Workmates share $1.4 million lotto win

Ten workmates at a North Shore business will split $1.4 million after taking out a division one Tattslotto win.

The workmates, who had been playing lotteries together for 15 years, were one of seven division one winners in Saturday’s Tattslotto draw, taking home $1,442,537.03.

The syndicate leader said he was in a state of disbelief when he received the news from The Lott officials.

“This is a private work syndicate shared between 10 work colleagues and we’ve been playing … for about 15 years,” he said.

“One of the members heard that there was a division one winning entry from the outlet we purchased from.

“I haven’t been able to confirm the win with everyone, but I know for a fact the prize will be a tremendous help.

“It’s put my family eight years ahead of our mortgage payments which is amazing. If we have a bit of money left over, we might purchase a new caravan and travel around Australia.”

The syndicate’s winning ticket was purchased at Corner Exchange Lotto in Geelong North.

Corner Exchange Lotto manager Jon Cameron said the division one winning entry has brought him immense joy.

“We’re so thrilled to have sold a division one winning entry to 10 locals after a rough couple of years with COVID,” he said.

“It’s been two years since we last sold a division one winning entry, so it feels great to have sold another this year.

“Congratulations to our 10 winners, and we hope it brings great happiness into their lives. We have a gift of champagne ready for them come collect and enjoy.”

The syndicate had to split the jackpot with six other division one winners across the country, including two others in Victoria, three from New South Wales and one from Western Australia.
