Man charged over fatal Corio crash

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man over a crash that killed a 64-year-old Bell Park woman last week.

Police allege a truck travelling north on Bacchus Marsh Road collided with a car at the intersection of the Geelong Ring Road just after 2pm on January 10.

The driver of the car died at the scene and a two-year-old Lovely Banks girl was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the girl had since been released and was at home with her family.

The truck driver, a 38-year-old Clyde man, was not injured.

The man was charged this week with one count each of dangerous driving causing death, drive in a manner dangerous and failing to stop at a red light.

He was bailed to appear at the Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday.
