North Geelong has appointed the experienced Mark Hounslow as its coach for the 2022 Geelong and District Football League season.
The club announced on its Facebook page that it had secured Hounslow for the next two seasons.
Hounslow comes to the club having had a long career as a player and coach. Most recently had been involved with the Western Jets in the NAB League, while he had held several roles with Coburg’s VFL side previously.
Hounslow is no stranger to the Geelong football scene.
He was an assistant coach at Grovedale, Geelong West and Newtown and Chilwell in the past 10 years.
He also coached at Geelong College.
In its post, the club said that Hounslow was the perfect fit for the club’s developing side and he was excited to take on the new challenge.
The Magpies were sitting in 12th when the season was called off early due to lockdowns as part of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Magpies had four wins from their 12 matches.
Hounslow, who has played football in Queensland as well, replaces Ayden George as coach.
George, a playing coach, decided mid season he would step down from the coaching role after a tough few years with COVID-19 not allowing a full season the last two years.
George was appointed coach in late 2018 having previously played VFL with North Ballarat.
The club recently announced that Jeff Czajkowski had been reappointed as women’s coach.
