Need inspiration for a new home or ways to make your existing place more sustainable?
Maybe the Sustainable House Day event is for you.
Held each year in October, Sustainable House Day provides an opportunity to learn from others how to improve the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of your home
This year the event will be held online and across two days, to allow people to tune into as many of the eight seminars as possible.
Among the activities as part of the 13th edition of the event, are virtual house tours narrated by homeowners, extensive online resources, question and answers with home owners and seminars to help with selecting building materials, going all-electric and cost-effective retrofitting.
Event coordinator Vicki Perrett said they had been asked to extend the event to a whole weekend to allow people to visit more houses.
“Now because of COVID restrictions, we’ve done just that,” she said.
“Our online event is a rich learning experience that is open to everyone. There are four exemplar properties and a range of case study seminars to set people up for sustainable housing success.”
Geelong Sustainability, which runs the event with support from the Geelong council, has produced preview slideshows for each house as well as 10-minute video tours narrated by the homeowners.
Participants will be able to submit questions online before and during the event and each session will be able to be watched afterwards.
