Three new tier two exposure sites have emerged in Geelong West from last weekend.
Barwon Health tonight listed 7 Origins Café from 2.20pm to 3.10pm last Saturday (August 28), and Poco Café Exprès from 11am to 12.10pm and Coles on Shannon Avenue from 12pm to 1.05pm, last Sunday (August 29), as tier two exposures sites.
The health provider is currently managing a small number of mostly tier two exposure sites in Geelong linked to a household in Thomson where four residents tested positive for COVID-19, according to Barwon South West Public Health Unit director Eugene Athan.
“The fourth case was in isolation from the time they were identified as a primary close contact, with one exposure site just prior to this time,” Professor Athan said.
“The exposure site linked to this case is the Geelong Distribution Centre – Boardriders in North Geelong.”
Health authorities have listed the distribution centre as a tier two site from 3pm to midnight on August 23.
“There is also a second exposure tier two site for our region, The Gordon TAFE East Geelong Campus [from 8.00am to 4.45pm on August 26], which is related to a metro case,” Professor Athan said.
“These positive cases have all now moved to hotel quarantine where they continue to be monitored.
“The public health unit is closely monitoring the two other household contacts. Investigations into the source of the original infection are continuing.
“Demand for testing is currently strong with more than 1500 tests performed yesterday across the Geelong region. “
Anyone at a tier two site during the listed exposure times must get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.
The Department of Health today confirmed one new case in greater Geelong was among 120 new cases across Victoria recorded yesterday.
