Health authorities have confirmed two new tier one exposure sites in Newcomb and Torquay from more than a week ago.
Barwon Health today advised that anyone who attended Derrimut 24:7 Gym Newcomb between 9.30am and 11am on August 17 and 9.55am and 11.30am on August 19 must get tested and isolate for 14 days.
The health provider also listed Total Health Chiropractic, Torquay, as a tier one exposure site from 6pm to 7.45pm on August 20.
The Independent understands authorities have identified an additional case from the same household as a new Geelong case identified last night relating to several new tier two exposure sites.
Barwon Health last night listed Coles Waurn Ponds, including the supermarket’s loading dock, as a tier two exposure site on:
• August 14 from 4pm to 5pm,
• August 14 from 11.45pm to 12.30am on August 15, and
• August 15 from 3pm to 3.45pm and from 10.45pm to 11.30pm.
Barwon Health also listed Xavier’s Kebabs at 10 Mercer Street, Geelong, as a tier two exposure site from 11.45pm, August 18, to 1am, August 19.
The tier two exposure sites relate to a new mystery Geelong case.
Victorian COVID Response commander Jeroen Weimar said authorities had not at this stage linked the case to six cases in a single Lara household reported earlier this week and were continuing their investigations.
“We don’t have immediate acquisition yet. We’ll work to find out where that’s come from.
“You don’t know, is it another Shepparton where a week later you’re looking at 80 cases, or is it one individual who’s actually had a very recent contact with another case we know about and may not have infected anybody, or just their immediate household.
“Anybody with concerns around their health in Geelong, please come forward and get tested swiftly, let’s really control this one right from the get go.”
Barwon Health echoed that message, advising pop-up testing sites had opened at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, Geelong Showgrounds and Beckley Park Corio.
Barwon Health also confirmed 11 other Geelong tier two exposure sites earlier this week.
Today the Department of Health also listed two addition exposure times for one of these tier two sites, Lara Post Office, between 11.55am and 12.40pm on August 16 and 1.15pm and 2pm on August 19.
Those who have visited a tier two site during the times listed must get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.
