Torquay Liberals have lost their leader.
Councillor Ron Humphrey has “stepped down” as president without an immediate successor.
Cr Humphrey said council work was behind his resignation.
“I’ve taken on too much,” he said.
“There are other people in the branch who are more than capable.
“I still remain a member of the party and a strong believer of Liberal values.”
Liberal party state director Julian Sheezel would not comment on a likely candidate to fill Cr Humphrey’s shoes.
“We don’t make any comments on internal party office positions,” Mr Sheezel said.
Torquay Liberals could contact their “local MP” until the branch had elected a new present, he said.
The MP for Torquay is Labor Member for South Barwon Michael Crutchfield.
