Crash kills rider in Winchelsea

A motorcyclist died following a crash in Winchelsea on Sunday despite the attempts of three passers-by to help them.

The motorcyclist was travelling on Winchelsea-Deans Marsh Road when they lost control and crashed into a tree just before 4pm, according to investigators.

“Police and emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash in Winchelsea,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said on Sunday evening.

“A number of passers-by, including two nurses and a doctor, stopped and provided medical assistance but sadly, the rider, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.”

The spokesperson urged anyone who witnessed the crash to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

The crash brought the Victorian road toll so far this year to 49, down on 54 the same time last year.
