Geelong’s active cases level despite statewide increase of 168

Geelong and Surf Coast’s active COVID-19 cases have remained level over the weekend despite yet another triple-digit increase state-wide yesterday.

Greater Geelong had five active cases as of midnight yesterday, level since midnight last Thursday, July 9, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Active cases reached six, with 74 in total, as of midnight last Wednesday, July 8, but the department revised the figure to five and 73 respectively the following day.

While active cases remained at five for Geelong yesterday, the city’s total cases (since the pandemic began) increased by one to 74, according to the department.

The Independent has sought clarification from the department on this increase.

The Surf Coast Shire had one active case as of midnight yesterday, with no new cases since midnight last Tuesday, July 7.
