Member for Geelong Ian Trezise has objected to the development of a rehabilitation facility in Geelong West for youths at risk of suicide. Mr Trezise said the facility was “of great concern” and would create an “institution in suburban Geelong”.

Residents face explosions and exposure to toxic chemicals if a major earthquake hits Geelong, according to a secret City Hall study. The study reveals that the Lovely Banks Fault, running through the city’s northern suburbs, and the Rowsley Fault, running north to Anakie, have slip rates “among the highest of currently active Australian faults”.

Geelong chief Brian Cook wants the AFL to reveal when a player reaches two social drug strikes to avoid a West Coast Eagles-style drug culture from developing at the Cattery. Cook told a Geelong Business Breakfast this week social drugs were a “huge issue, it’s a cultural issue, because culture affects everything”.
