Nudists groups in call for clean up at beach

NUDISTS plan to clean up Point Impossible next week.
And they want regular beach users to join them.
Free Beach Association and Nudists Association of Victoria have urged members to visit the beach on March 4 to take part in Clean Up Australia Day.
The clean up call follows public debate on whether to remove the beach’s clothing-optional status amid complaints of lewd behaviour at Point Impossible.
The nudist associations have used the internet to call for the clean up session.
“It’s one of our most popular beaches, with hundreds of people using it every sunny day, so it’s high time we all gave a little something back to Point Impossible for being a great place to enjoy our freedom,” Free Beach Association said.
“So all you people who also use the beach for morning walks/jogs, it doesn’t matter (whether) you aren’t nudists – no excuses.”
The website said the clean-up would run from 10am to 1pm.
The call for help warned that the clothing optional area did not stretch into the dunes behind the beach, so participants working in the area would have to wear clothes.
Supporters of removing the beach’s clothing-optional status have complained men use the dunes to meet for sex.
Councillor Ron Humphrey, who has led calls for the ban on nudism, was sceptical of the clean up call.
Cr Humphrey said he doubted it would be a success following the failure of a proposed nude games at Point Impossible in January.
“I hope they have more participants than last time when only three turned up,” he said.
“Maybe they should call for some help from those Easter Island statues up in the dunes.”
However, Cr Humphrey said he supported any plan to clean up the beach.
“It wouldn’t hurt,” he said.
