An alleged stabbing victim is in a stable but critical condition following surgery at University Hospital Geelong on Tuesday.
The man underwent emergency surgery after an alleged stabbing at Whittington.
Police rushed to Redstone Ct following reports of a fight about 5.25am and on arrival located a man with stab wounds.
Paramedics rushed the man, in his 20s, to University Hospital Geelong in a critical condition.
Surgeons stabilised the man during surgery and he remained in a stable but critical condition at 11.45am on Tuesday, a Barwon Health spokesperson said.
Police arrested a man in his 20s, who was assisting them with their inquiries, a spokesperson said.
Detectives established a crime scene in the area and continued their investigation on Tuesday morning.
Detectives were hunting for another person or other people who may be suspects in the alleged stabbing, the police spokesperson said.
