Surf Coast pen pervert no Shakespeare

WANTED: Police wish to speak to this man in relation to inappropriate phone calls and handwritten letters.

An alleged stalker who reportedly wrote sexually explicit letters and made inappropriate phone calls to Surf Coast businesses could be in Anglesea, according to police.

Police released security camera images of a man on Sunday as they worked to track down the alleged offender.

Fawkner Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives were investigating a series of inappropriate letters and phone calls in Coburg, Torquay and Essendon.

Various businesses had received sexually-explicit, handwritten letters since January 2018, police said.

Recently the offender had made inappropriate phone calls to female staff members at the same businesses, police alleged.

Police believed the offender made the phone calls from pay phones in Melbourne and on the Surf Coast.

The offender made their most recent inappropriate phone call on 9 May from Airport West, Victoria Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said.

“Investigators have released images and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.”

Police have not identified the male in the images yet, Ms Batty said on Sunday.

The man could be frequenting Anglesea and Surf Coast, police advised.

Police urged anyone with information about the incidents to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
