A group of 40 riders passed through Geelong this week on their quest to cycle from Melbourne to Adelaide to raise funds for cancer patients.
The cyclists departed St Kilda Marina early on Sunday morning, catching the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff before cycling to their overnight stay at Waurn Ponds.
The cyclists hit the pedals again Monday morning, riding along the Great Ocean Road.
They continued on this week to raise money to build family-style homes for country patients visiting hospitals in major cities.
“Over the past six years Mercer SuperCycle has raised over $2 million, an incredible amount of funds to support Australian country cancer patients,” SuperCycle’s Dawn Garrett said.
“These funds have seen the completion of the first two Under Our Roof homes in Adelaide and the construction of a second project later this year.
“We aren’t stopping there; our goal is to raise enough funds to continue providing comfort for country cancer patients and their families who need it most.
“This year is the first time we’re cycling from Melbourne and our riders are eager to start their journey and ride through some of this country’s most picturesque landscapes.”
