TORQUAY and Jan Juc residents are opting for cars instead of risking being left stranded by an “unreliable” bus service, according to a regular passenger.
Clem Prince said he found the Torquay to Geelong service “infrequent and unreliable” since he started a job in August.
Mr Prince said he and at least one other passenger were stranded at a Jan Juc stop when a 7.50am Tuesday V/Line service was either five minutes early, 30 minutes late, or didn’t show up.
Mr Prince said he was considering buying a car to avoid the bus service.
Public Transport User’s Association Geelong branch convenor Paul Westcott said Mr Prince was not alone in his dissatisfaction with the service.
Bus operator McHarry’s complaints manager David Doig said the driver of the Tuesday morning bus was running “according to time”, but may have been a couple of minutes early.
Mr Doig said it was company policy that buses not run earlier than scheduled.
