The handy bunch

Handicrafts still flourishing in Geelong amid the emergence of competing technologies such as 3D printing will go on display this weekend.
Barwon Valley Woodwrights will put on its annual show over both days, with many of the “unique” displayed items available for sale.
“This is a terrific opportunity for anyone to purchase some rather special gifts for Christmas at very reasonable prices,” said a member of the group.
“Displays of woodturning, scroll sawing, woodcarving, pyrography and a kids’ workshop will be presented.
“Rope-tying, quilting, spinning, and weaving and lace making will also be on display, so there will be lots to see and enjoy.
This year’s exhibition has moved to a new location, with the show open to the public 10am to 4pm both days at Masonic Hall, Regent Street, Belmont.
Entry for adults costs $5, with children admitted free.
