Gheringhap fatality

A woman was killed in a crash at Gheringhap on Wednesday, the second fatal collision west of Geelong in two days.
Police believe the vehicle ran off the road and collided with a tree on the Midland Highway, about 11.20am.
Paramedics treated the woman but were unable to revive her as an ambulance helicopter landed nearby.
The woman was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Another woman died in a crash at Ballan following a police pursuit of an allegedly stolen van on the Western Freeway on Tuesday.
Officers attempted to intercept the van on the highway, about 2.30pm.
The van failed to stop and shortly after crashed into two trucks near Ballan-Daylesford Road.
A female passenger from the allegedly stolen vehicle died at the scene.
The male driver allegedly fled before stealing another vehicle and returning to Ballarat.
Police arrested a 17-year-old boy in Ballarat on Tuesday evening, who was assisting them with their inquiries.
Victoria Police commenced an investigation into the pursuit under the oversight of its Professional Standards Command as per normal procedure.
Police urged anyone with information on either crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
