Multiple Platinum artist Pete Murray will play in Geelong this weekend following the release of his new album Camacho.
The new album had more of a “hip hop” feel than his previous work, Murray told the Indy Monday.
“It’s a lot punchier – it’s got more of a groove. There’s a bit more production than previous albums.
“I’m really looking forward to letting the Aussie crowds hear the difference.”
So far Murray has released two songs from the album, Take Me Down and Sold.
But even with a million record sales under his belt, Murray hesitated to pick the new album’s winners.
“When you think you’ve got a hit you don’t, and when you don’t think you’ve got a hit you do,” he said.
“Feeler was in the charts for 30 weeks before it went to number one. But I don’t think it’s going to be too long until this album takes off and people really get into it.”
Murray said the new album had no “weak moments”.
“That’s why I took six years to write it – I want people to play it from start to finish.”
Murray will also play the hits that made him famous at the Wool Exchange Saturday, like Feeler, So Beautiful and Better Days.
“It’s kind of hard not to play those songs,” he said. “Next tour people will, hopefully, be singing all of the songs on the new album as well.”
