Driver killed in crash

A driver died in a fiery crash on the Great Ocean Road west of Apollo Bay on Thursday afternoon.
Police believed the car was travelling along the Great Ocean Road when it failed to navigate a bend and struck a tree just after 2.30pm.
The car burst into flames, a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
The driver, who police believed to be the sole occupant of the vehicle and had yet to identify, died at the scene.
Police closed the Great Ocean Road in both directions between Lavers Hill and Apollo Bay as they investigated.

The crash brings the Victorian road toll to 127, compared to 147 the same time last year.
