Police have charged a man following a Belmont crash which killed a 59-year-old man from Highton on Sunday.
A Holden Commodore was travelling along Barrabool Road around 11.30am when it crossed to the other side of the road and hit two cars, police alleged.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives said the Commodore clipped a Hyundai before colliding head-on with a Mercedes sedan driving in the opposite direction.
Paramedics took the driver of the Mercedes to hospital, where he later died Sunday afternoon.
Police charged a 42-year-old Geelong man with dangerous driving causing death, conduct endangering life, dangerous driving, careless driving and driving while unlicensed.
He was remanded to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 30 May.
Paramedics took the front passenger of the Mercedes, a 53-year-old man from Highton, to hospital with chest injuries. He later discharged himself.
The 42-year-old driver of the Commodore and front passenger, a 22-year-old man from Drumcondra, sustained injuries in the crash and paramedics took them to hospital in a stable condition.
The rear passenger of the Commodore, an 18-year-old woman from Metung and the 72-year-old female driver of the Hyundai were uninjured.
