PIECES of parades past will gather messages of tolerance for the future at Saturday’s 30th Pako Festa.
Festival director Luisa La Fornara said an Art on Parade project had used recycled fabrics from previous festas to create a special float for the event’s grand parade from 11am to midday.
Pako patrons would be able to write “anti-discrimination” messages on the float fabrics outside Geelong West Town Hall after the parade.
Ms La Fornara said the “sculptural towers” carrying the fabrics and their messages would go on display at other community events after Pako Festa.
Member of City Hall’s Geelong Adolescent Sexuality Project had helped develop the Art on Parade project, she said.
“The group will be on hand to assist and inspire you to also add your own important positive messages to commemorate Pako Festa’s 30-year history of celebrating cultural diversity.”
Pako Festa begins 9am on Pakington St, Geelong West.
