Business awards nominations triple

Nominations for Geelong’s premier business awards have tripled on last year, according to organisers.
Geelong Business Excellence Awards received more than 330 nominations by last week’s cut-off, said the city’s chamber of commerce chief.
The chamber was “thrilled by the unprecedented interest”, Bernadette Uzelac said.
“To receive more than 330 nominations of a range of businesses from micro-enterprises through to large companies speaks volumes about their services and how their customers want to see them recognised as award winners,” she said.
“The amount of nominations are triple to what was received in 2016 and highlights why the Geelong Business Excellence Awards, the longest continuously running business awards in Australia, remains the best way to showcase local businesses that epitomise excellence.”
The Geelong Indy came on board as a Geelong Business Excellence Awards sponsor for the first time this year.
“We’re delighted to publicise the awards,” said Indy managing editor Tony Galpin.
“The huge response to the calls for nominations will help make this year’s event the best and biggest ever.”
The awards’ judging panel began running entry-writing workshops for nominees this week. Geelong’s Chamber of Commerce’s office at 10 Moorabool St, Geelong, will host additional workshops on 26 and 28 April.
Workshop reservations and more information about the business excellence awards are available at gbea.com.au.
Entries for each of the 21 categories close on 22 May.
