Legs pinned in crash

By Luke Voogt

A ‘T-bone’ collision left a 30-year-old driver trapped in his car by his legs until CFA and SES crews could free him.
“SES and CFA crews have worked together to remove the driver’s side of the vehicle,” said South Barwon SES media liaison Scott Clark.
Two cars collided on the corner of Geelong-Ballan Road, and Steiglitz Road, Moorabool, about 12.45pm on Monday.
One car sustained extensive damage on the driver’s side, trapping the driver.
Rescue crews spent roughly 30 minutes freeing the man with the ‘jaws of life’ before helping paramedics to extricate him.
An air ambulance flew the man to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition with multiple injuries.
Paramedics took a man and a woman in their thirties, and a man in his twenties to Geelong hospital with minor injuries.
Mr Clark described long weekend traffic coming back from the Surf Coast as a “disaster” with cars backed up along the Geelong Ring Road.
He said the accident served as “a timely reminder” for motorists to take care as he returned to base with an SES rescue crew.
“Just be aware during long weekends there’s more traffic on the roads. Take more time to plan your trip and share the driving.”
Geelong Highway Patrol were continuing their investigation of the crash a short time ago.
