Two charged over station car park smash-and-grabs

Geelong police have charged a 17-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man from Newtown following a series of thefts at Marshall Station over the weekend.
Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged the pair with multiple offences including theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle and criminal damage.
The man will appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 20 December while the boy will appear at Childrens’ Court at a later date.
Police allege the pair broke into 22 cars at the Marshall, South Geelong and North Geelong Railway between 2.10 and 2.40am on Sunday morning.
Officers discovered a number of cars with smashed windows at the station following triple-zero call at 3.10am Sunday morning.
Subsequent patrols discovered two more cars with broken windows at South Geelong Station and one at North Geelong Station.
Waurn Ponds Sergeant Peter Quick said police were investigating CCTV footage from Marshall Station.
Victoria Police’s Transit Safety Division was also investigating the incident.
