Police on station after car park smash raids

Police have ramped up their surveillance of Marshall Station after brazen thieves smashed 22 car windows in 30 minutes this weekend.
The thieves smashed the windows at the station between 2.10am and 2.40am Sunday. A victim called triple-zero at 3.10am Sunday morning and police arrived shortly after.
Subsequent patrols discovered two more thefts at South Geelong Station and one at North Geelong Station.
Waurn Ponds Sergeant Peter Quick said police were investigating CCTV footage from Marshall Station and said the vandalism appeared random.
“They’ve just pulled up and broken windows.”
Sgt Quick said thieves had likely smashed the windows with a blunt object like a tyre lever.
Waurn Ponds police have increased their patrols to the station in response to the incident, Sgt Quick said.
“We’ll do that … until we catch someone or it stops.”
Victoria Police’s Transit Safety Division was also investigating the incident.
Police identified a stolen 2012 grey Holden Colarado with registration ZMK-723 from the footage.
Sgt Quick urged anyone who had their car broken into or with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.cimestoppersvic.com.au
