Bad driving on good behaviour bond

Police nabbed a 20-year-old Inverleigh man driving almost 50km/h over the limit while on a VicRoads-imposed good behaviour bond in Moriac on Wednesday.
Geelong Highway Patrol officers detected a car allegedly travelling 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on Princes Highway at 3.15pm.
Police suspended the man’s licence, issued him with a $661 on-the-spot fine and added six demerit points to his licence.
The man was driving under a demerit point good behaviour bond, where even one demerit point would mean the suspension of his licence for six months from VicRoads.
The VicRoads bond plus the six-month suspension he earned on the Princes Freeway will mean he will effectively lose his licence for 12 months.
The man stated he was driving fast to meet up with his boss who was on his way out for the day, police said.
Police reminded motorists to plan journeys and leave early heading into a busy summer for the Bellarine and Surf Coast.
