GEELONG’S premier community sports event will raise money for the city’s peak charity next year, organisers have announced.
USM Events said February’s Geelong Multi Sport Festival had made Give Where You Live its “official community partner”.
USM’s Geoff Meyer was “delighted to deliver the good news”.
Community support was crucial to the ongoing success of the Multi Sport Festival, he said.
The second annual festival will comprise three days of sport, entertainment and community activities on Geelong’s waterfront from February 10 to 12.
Festival beneficiary Give Where You Live provides financial support to around 70 health and human care agencies operating in the Geelong region.
The not-for-profit organisation, formerly United Way Geelong, operates under a transparent process to ensure funds raised locally stay in the region.
Give Where You Live’s Bill Mithen was “thrilled with the Multi Sports Festival partnership.
“Valuable funds will be raised that will help Give Where You Live fulfill its goal of alleviating income, health and education disadvantage in the Geelong region. We are excited to be part of this unique festival, which we know will become a major event on the region’s calendar.”
Geelong Multi Sport Festival will feature events such as a children’s triathlon, a foreshore run/walk and a bay swim.
Entries and more information on the festival is available at geelongmultisport.com.au.
