Teen charged over bashing burglary

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a Corio man following an aggravated burglary at Hamlyn Heights on 22 August.
The victim was in his lounge room in Chaucer Street when he heard someone come through the front door home just before 7pm, police said.
The victim initially believed it was his 93-year-old father but was allegedly confronted by a man with a knife.
Police said the 67-year-old man was beaten around the head and left with severe bruising and swelling.
His father ran out of the home to get help from a neighbour who raised the alarm.
The offender ran from the scene and jumped the rear fence to get away, police said.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man, about 9.40am Friday 23 September, in Hendy Street, Corio.
Detectives charged the man with aggravated burglary, armed robbery, intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and assault with a weapon.
He was scheduled to appear before the Geelong Magistratess Court Friday afternoon.
