A Bell Park Cats supporter was in the middle of his morning shower when he received a call saying he had won more than $700,000.
The thrilled man had no idea his numbers came up in a Saturday night lotto draw, and was getting ready for work when the phone rang.
“Sorry I’ve just jumped out of the shower and I’m in the middle of brushing my teeth,” he said.
“You know what? I thought you said Cats, not Tatts. I’m a Geelong supporter and I thought it was the Geelong Cats footy club calling me.”
The man was overjoyed to win the division one prize worth $701,962.71.
“We’ve had our backs on the walls for the last two or three years and it’s felt like everything’s been going backwards, but this will change things around,” he said
“We’ll pay the bills – got plenty of them. A holiday will be happening once everything is settled but we’ll definitely be going somewhere in the world.”
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased his entry from NewsXpress in Bell Park.
Store owner Andrew Robb was busy preparing to celebrate 25 years at his store when he sold the ticket, his 15th division one winning entry.
“We’re over-the-moon with the timing and it’s certainly the icing on our business’s 25th birthday cake,” Mr Robb said.
