After 16 years in business, Robin Avenue Lotto in Norlane sold its first division one winning entry in Saturday night’s TattsLotto draw.
The customer, who chose to remain anonymous, won a prize of more than $408,000.
Store owner Peter Grech was thrilled to sell the winning ticket.
“It’s absolutely fantastic,” he said
He said his dad owned a Tatts outlet and sold a division one winning entry about 30 years ago.
“I’ve always wanted to know what it’s like and have the same experience,” he said.
A group of retired ladies and former work mates also won first division, after purchasing a ticket from Newcomb Lotto.
The ladies catch up every month for lunch and to organise their shared TattsLotto entry.
“We’re all retirees now so we are rapt,” one of the ladies said.
“Next time we catch up for lunch, we’re going to upgrade to a restaurant to celebrate, not a pub meal.”
The private syndicate leader explained she thought she may have won on a bit of good karma.
“It’s funny because I recently offered my car park ticket to a stranger looking for a spot, because I had another 30 minutes left on my space, so I handed it to him and he said ‘I hope you win TattsLotto’.”
Newcomb Lotto owner John Maroulis was delighted to sell the ticket to regular customers.
I’ve been here now for three years and this is our first division one winning ticket since we started, so it’s pretty special to us,” he said.
