Water cost to fall

Jo Plummer

Barwon Water prices have fallen again for a consecutive year, the authority has announced.
The decrease was in line with a five-year plan covering pricing, services and other activities, Barwon Water said.
The plan delivered price cuts in 2013 and 2014, although CPI adjustments left consumers paying slightly more.
But reduced inflation in 2015 and 2016 had delivered lower prices for both years, Barwon Water said.
“For an average residential customer using 160 kilolitres of water a year, this translates into a decrease of around $3.38 a year,” chairman Jo Plummer said.
“To be able to offer some relief from cost of living increases is something of which Barwon Water is proud.”
