Three people ended up in hospital after a garbage truck collided with two vehicles at Bannockburn this morning (Wednesday).
Police are investigating after emergency services were called to the Midland Highway about 6.30am after two separate collisions.
Investigators heard that a Toyota Corolla collided with the garbage truck as it attempted to reverse into a driveway just prior to 6am.
The crash left the truck immobile across the highway.
Police believed that 20 minutes later a Ford ute struck the stationary truck.
A 47-year-old man who was driving the ute was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Two occupants of the Toyota, a 49-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, were taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.
The driver of the truck, a 24-year-old Kurunjang man, was uninjured.
Police said the highway would re-open about 9.30am.
