Thomas Banks is young, gay and has cerebral palsy.
His one-man show ‘Someone Like Thomas Banks’ is a story of courage and defiance while searching for love and claiming his identity.
Presented by Platform Youth Theatre in collaboration with Straightjacket Productions, Someone Like Thomas Banks is Thomas’s own story that combines expression of self and persona while being poignant, intimate and revelatory – but the overall concept is light-hearted and funny, involving interactions with strangers, potential lovers and would-be friends about confusion, communication and connection.
The Herald-Sun’s Kate Herbert says: “In this very personal story, we join Thomas’s quest for a life with meaning and his search for love in all the wrong places – a search with which everyone, with or without disability, will identify.”
This is a show everyone should see, it will inspire and will leave you wanting more. There are two shows at the Potato Shed in Drysdale on Friday 22 April at 7.30pm and Saturday 23 April at 2pm.
