FIFA-standard soccer pitch to encourage more players in Geelong’s northern suburbs

A FIFA-standard soccer pitch is on the way to Norlane’s Leisuretime Centre.
A $600,000 state grant and City Hall funds will deliver the synthetic pitch to transform the site into a “state-of-the-art soccer hub”, according to Sports Minister John Eren.
The pitch could also host other sports including AFL 9s, touch football and ultimate Frisbee, he said.
The soccer hub would also have floodlights, fencing, player shelters, removable goals and spectator benches.
The facility would increase local soccer participation by 1500 people each year, Mr Eren said.
“We love our soccer in Geelong. The game is as popular as ever, so we’re giving players of all abilities a state-of-the-art venue they can be proud of.”
