New head for health body

BARWON Health announced the appointment of new CEO Professor Belinda Moyes, on Tuesday 29 March, after an international search for a new leader.
Professor Moyes said she felt privileged to lead Barwon Health, Victoria’s largest regional health service.
“I am committed to leading the organisation to put consumers at the centre of care and providing access to state-of-the-art services,” she said.
“I look forward to becoming a part of the Geelong community and to building upon the existing work of former CEO Professor David Ashbridge and interim CEO Paul Cohen.”
Professor Moyes will commence her position at Barwon Health in July and brings with her years of experience in the public and private health sectors.
She has held leadership roles in public health in South Australia and Victoria, including her most recent as CEO of Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.
She was also the Victorian Department of Health’s former chief nursing advisor and policy director and has a Master of Health Planning and a Bachelor of Health Administration.
Barwon Health Board chairman Dr John Stekelenburg said he was delighted to make the announcement.
“Following a robust recruitment process, we have appointed an exceptional CEO whose experience will enhance our position as a major training and education provider,” he said.
“On behalf of the board and the executive I would like to welcome Belinda to Geelong and Barwon Health.”
Dr Stekelenburg thanked interim CEO Paul Cohen for his stewardship during the recruitment process.
