The remains of missing man Daniel O’Keeffe have been found at a Highton property.
Suspected skeletal remains were discovered at a property at Summerhill Terrace, Highton, about 1.30pm on Monday 21 March.
Local police and detectives are treating the area as a crime scene.
The family of Daniel James O’Keeffe released the following statement on Facebook at about 4.30pm on Monday:
“It is with heavy hearts that the family and friends of Dan O’Keeffe, update this page to share that Dan’s remains were discovered earlier today. It appears that some media outlets have already begun to disseminate this information before our family was able to contact everyone necessary.
“Our focus (both on this page and in establishing MPAN) has always been two-fold; to raise awareness about the vulnerabilities of missing people in Australia and to ask that you harness people power to help the families left behind.
“We ask that you keep our family in your thoughts as we navigate this process and that our privacy be respected. For all enquiries please visit our website, for broader enquiries about what happens for families when a loved one who is missing is found deceased please contact Dr Sarah Wayland.
