A woman smiled in court before leaving on bail this week over an alleged attempted armed robbery at a Geelong petrol station.
Tammy Brennan, 42, appeared in Geelong Magistrates’ Court smiling and waving at her lawyer from the dock.
Brennan allegedly entered the service station on Sydney Parade and demanded cash while threatening a 7/11 attendant with a knife.
The court heard that Ms Brennan acted on her own and had no prior history of crime.
Her lawyer, Stephanie Mawby, asked the magistrate to adjourn the hearing because Brennan was “unwell”.
“Informant Detective Senior Constable Daryl Crosthwaite requested that Brennan abide by her GP’s instructions of prescribed medication for her mental health issues,” Ms Mawby said.
“She has schizoaffective disorder and possibly bipolar. Brennan has been in an out of the Swanston Centre in recent times.”
Magistrate Peter Mellas granted Brennan bail, which was unopposed by police, on the condition that she not talk to witnesses or frequent the Geelong 7/11 before a committal mention on 13 May.
