Brazen thieves have driven away in a luxury Holden while a salesman’s back was turned at a Geelong dealership.
Geelong police have released an image of the black 2003 Statesman, stolen from a Moorabool St car yard.
The pair of thieves allegedly stole the car on 9 February after making an inquiry about it at the dealership, police said in a Facebook post.
“At the time two persons, a male and a female, were looking at the vehicle and the salesperson got the keys to the vehicle for the persons to be able to inspect the vehicle further.
“The salesperson was then distracted and during this time the persons have then jumped in the vehicle and driven off with the vehicle.”
Police asked anyone with information about the alleged theft or the vehicle’s location to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Geelong police also this week released a list of 21 other stolen cars “outstanding” in the region.
The list included prestige vehicles including a 2012 Mercedes and a 2008 Audi as well as a 2013 Toyota HiLux.
