Feeding chooks ‘sustainable ideas’

Everything from electric cars to automatic chicken-feeders will be among ideas for a sustainable future at Geelong’s Act on Climate Market Day, organisers have announced.
Part of an inaugural Act on Climate Festival, the market will feature exhibitors showcasing the latest sustainable-living solutions on Geelong’s waterfront from 10am to 2pm on Saturday.
The organisers hope to draw on the success of last year’s People’s Climate March, which they said attracted 900 people to the waterfront.
Council environment and sustainability portfolio-holder Andy Richards said the market would be a “one-stop shop for individual environmental sustainability”.
“Want to Change Your World But Don’t Know Where to Start? Then head down to the Act on Climate Change Market Day.
“There are some very real changes that we can make individually to live a sustainable life.”
The organisers said the climate festival would also include a Geelong premiere screening of This Changes Everything at Courthouse Youth Arts on Monday.
City Hall described it as “a powerful film that attempts to re-imagine the vast challenge of climate change”.
Afterwards a panel will discuss the film and its meaning for communities in the Geelong region.
The festival will be held a week before 40,000 delegates from around the world are due to attend a UN climate change conference in Paris.
